Hefei Wildlife Park is located at the southwest foot of Mount Daxiu, benefiting from the excellent ecological environment of the mountain, the zoo is also lush with trees and undulating terrain.
The entire park covers a large area with a complete variety of animals, although some species are not numerous. Given that Hefei does not have many famous tourist attractions, places suitable for family outings like this one are bustling during holidays. You can buy feed to interact with gentle small animals, stroll along the unique elevated bridge to overlook the freely roaming predators, and enjoy spectacular animal performances. The zoo has two main entrances, East and West, with more buses stopping at the East entrance. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit, as animals are more active. For instance, spring is the mating season, making it easier to witness peacocks displaying their feathers. In contrast, animals tend to hide and sleep during summer and winter. Observing animals during feeding times is quite interesting, as keepers encourage them to perform various tricks. Entering from the East gate and passing through the Peacock Garden, you arrive at the herbivore area, where you can see rare elks and adorable alpacas. Don’t miss the penguin pavilion, where penguins swim right in front of visitors through floor-to-ceiling glass. On the west side, the Bird Garden allows close interaction with birds; buying feed allows swans and ducks to peck at food in your hand. Primates surround the Bird Garden, with tiny squirrel monkeys, large-faced mandrills, intelligent chimpanzees, and nearly a hundred Japanese monkeys always amusing visitors. The northern part of the park mainly houses large predators. The viewing elevated bridge on the east side is for visitors to walk on, with Siberian tigers and African lions strolling freely beneath it. If lucky, one can witness the famous scene of black bears and deer living together in Hefei Wildlife Park. The park is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:10.
