Hello Nico’s ‘Let’s Watch the Sea Together’ Tour in Shanghai

Living together in time, our lives intertwining; loving in the moment, without end; enduring hardships together in the fabric of space-time, always destined to meet; reminiscing about the future, never retreating. Over the course of six years, each of us has traversed different landscapes, strolling along the coastline, watching the sea together from dawn to dusk, feeling the passage of time amidst the ebb and flow of the tides. Everyone has their own way of responding to life, choosing whether to cast oneself adrift in the cosmos or to find a place to settle down. Please accept this belated invitation; after a six-year hiatus, we look forward to reuniting with you to watch the sea together. Have you been eager to embark on the interstellar journey to the concert venue since the release of the new EP two weeks ago? Hello Nico’s ‘Let’s Watch the Sea Together’ tour across ten cities is about to begin!

Formed in Taipei in 2013, Hello Nico is a band with members from diverse backgrounds, whose musical style spans pop, electronic, and rock genres. Their music is characterized by a sense of suppression and self-indulgence, quietly singing about human emotions and hurts amidst the guitar feedback noise and synthesized sounds, observing the inevitable contradictions and struggles in urban life. Since its establishment in 2013, the band has brought astonishing creative energy, sparking discussions online with mature arrangements and abundant compositions. Their representative works ‘Desolation’ and ‘Flower’ have won multiple weeks at the top of the charts. At the end of 2013, they were selected as one of Taiwan’s ‘Top Ten New Bands’ and have been widely hailed as Taiwan’s most eye-catching supernova band. In 2014, they released their first EP ‘Floating City,’ which received strong recommendations from renowned musicians like Chen Jianqi and singer Wei Ruoxuan. With ‘Floating City,’ Hello Nico won the ‘Best EP of the Year’ and ‘Top Ten Singles of the Year (Our Suffering Circus Troupe)’ at the 8th Freshmusic Awards. In 2015, they released their first album ‘Familiar Desolation’ and went on a tour; the limited physical records were sold exclusively at the concert venue and were sold out before they were officially released in record stores. The band was then invited to perform in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, achieving unprecedented success. In the second half of the year, they held an eleven-stop tour, with all four performances in the Pearl River Delta region, including Hong Kong, Macau, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen, as well as the Shanghai concert, all selling out. The band then announced that they would return to Taiwan in January 2016 for four special performances in the North, Central, and South, with all four performances selling out within a minute of ticket sales going live. In December 2015, Hello Nico was nominated for the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the 5th Abilu Music Awards held by the authoritative music platform Douban.

In May 2016, Hello Nico was nominated for the 27th Golden Melody Awards for Best New Artist with their album ‘Familiar Desolation’ and won Best New Group at the 9th Freshmusic Awards. In July 2016, they released the EP ‘Close Your Eyes’ and held three sold-out concerts in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. The band then embarked on a 12-city tour in mainland China and made their debut in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan with solo concerts. In early 2017, the EP ‘Close Your Eyes’ was nominated for Best EP at the 10th Singapore Freshmusic Awards, and Hello Nico won the Best Rock Artist of the Year at the 6th Abilu Music Awards. They were also invited to perform at the renowned American music festival ‘SXSW’ and later in the year, they performed at ‘TIMM Festival’ in Tokyo and ‘Clockenflap Festival’ in Hong Kong. In February 2018, they released the remixed single ‘You Are the Erased Scenery (tour mix)’, followed by two new singles ‘Dust of Light’ and ‘Dear Self’, and held a tour titled ‘Slowly, Far Away’. In September 2024, they released a new EP ‘Plan B: If We Come Back, Let’s Watch the Sea Together’. This EP encapsulates the emotional energy and growth of the band members over the years. It not only presents a fresh face of Hello Nico but also maintains the musical power that has captivated listeners for over a decade. As night falls and the stars adorn the sea, we huddle together, quietly appreciating the tranquility and beauty. The sea breeze gently blows, taking away the day’s noise and fatigue, leaving only inner peace and serenity. A glance and a smile are enough; no words are needed because we understand the value of this tacit understanding and companionship. I think I still lack the courage to tell you directly that I am depleted, unable to bloom. Your radiance shines in places even you cannot see, going forward, returning, searching, retreating. There is no territory for you to be responsible for. You were born to be loved, and love itself is the cure. If we come back, let’s watch the sea together. The event starts on December 22nd, Sunday, at 20:00 and lasts approximately 90 minutes (subject to the actual situation).
