The Himalayas Art Museum, formerly known as the Shanghai Zendai Modern Art Museum established in 2005, opened its new premises in 2012. It is located within the Himalayas Center, a complex designed by the renowned architect Arata Isozaki, which includes a hotel, art museum, theater, and branded shopping mall. The museum aims to “grow from the seeds of traditional China into a modern tree, creating a harmonious and inclusive post-modern China.”
The museum covers an area of 2000 square meters, including exhibition halls and artist studios. It is open year-round from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM; and on Fridays to Sundays, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Preferential policies include free admission for children under 1.2 meters (not including), disabled persons with valid identification, military personnel with valid identification, and seniors aged 70 and above.
