Yangzhou – A City of Time and Space Interlacing
Wandering through the streets and alleys of Yangzhou gives a sense of time and space interlacing. Yangzhou, stepping out of history, has imprints of years沉淀 in every corner.
Yangzhou is in high tourist season all year round. After experiencing the crowds at He Garden, Ge Garden and Slender West Lake, you might as well visit some less-known and niche scenic spots, which will surely bring you different surprises.
Dadongmen Bridge – The Beauty of Misty Jiangnan
Walking along the streets and alleys with pink walls and black tiles, the Xiaoqinhuai River is rippling with blue waves, and the weeping willows are reflected in the river. The snack stalls on Caiyi Street are emitting steam. Walking past Dadongmen Bridge like this, it is extremely beautiful in the light rain. This is the image of Jiangnan in my heart. Dadongmen Bridge is located at the east end of Dadongmen Street, spanning the Xiaoqinhuai River from east to west. It was originally built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. It was originally a wooden suspension bridge over the moat outside the east city gate of the old city in the Ming Dynasty. In 1927, it was changed into a masonry arch bridge with stone bridge foundations and brick arch roofs. The bridge deck is 10.7 meters long and 4.7 meters wide. It has been in use ever since and is well preserved.
Have Morning Tea at the Huaiyang Cuisine Museum
When coming to Yangzhou, there are always people tirelessly looking for the most authentic Huaiyang cuisine. Then having a meal at the Huaiyang Cuisine Museum is definitely the right choice. The museum is located inside the ancient Lu’s Residence. The entire building was personally built by the salt merchant Lu Shaoxu during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It is magnificent and cost 70,000 taels of silver. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit. Wandering among them, one can see the ‘nine entrances in front and back’ of the ancient Lu’s Residence. The doors and windows gradually become smaller layer by layer. Inside the ancient residence, the luxurious banquets of the past are on display. You can have a meal here. Come for morning tea. Have a cup of Kuilongzhu tea. There are cured meat, jadeite steamed dumplings, five-ingredient big buns, and crab roe soup dumplings served. A breakfast can make you very full.
