“I study nature. Many of my forms come from observing plants. I observe nature attentively and create only according to what I see. I draw on paper, then I pick up a metal wire and let it enter the air, letting it define space without stealing anything from anyone.” — The Hong Kong space of Zwirner Gallery will soon hold an exhibition of sculptures and works on paper by American-Japanese artist Ruth Asawa (1926-2013), titled ‘Doing Is Living’. Asawa continuously conducts experiments with various media. Her creations are known for being based on simple, repetitive gestures and complex compositions formed through accumulation. She effortlessly moves between abstraction and figuration in two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces and has created a large number of rich and diverse works. Although their visual effects are different, they all primarily reflect her belief in completely integrating artistic practice with family life.
Opening hours: From November 19 to February 22. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.[Hong Kong, China] Exhibition ‘Ruth Asawa: Living by Hand’
