The Hongji Bridge is located on the east street of Luyuan Ancient Town (now Tangqiao Town). The bridge is said to be named after being funded and built by monk Hongji. It is also known as Luyuan Bridge. It was built in the fifth year of Tianqi in the Ming Dynasty (1625). The bridge is 33.5 meters long and 3.55 meters wide. It is composed of three arches. The arch ring is made of granite and adopts a longitudinal joint segmented parallel structure. There are 27 steps on the east side and 20 steps on the west side. The middle hole of the bridge is 6.35 meters high and the span is 11.5 meters. The south side of the railing is bluestone and the north side is granite. It runs from east to west and spans the Three Dapu Rivers. On the north side of the bridge, there are three characters ‘Hongji Bridge’ written by Qian Qianyi, a minister in the Ming Dynasty.
The bridge has a history of more than 360 years. Except that the two ends of the bridge are silted up, it is still as solid as before.
Opening hours: Open all day all year round.
