Hongmei Park is a vast park located within Changzhou city, boasting a large lake area and excellent greenery. The park is replete with garden landscapes, attracting locals for leisurely strolls and families for weekend outings with their children. The Wenbi Tower within the park is one of the oldest existing structures in Changzhou, and the park is also renowned for its red plum blossoms that bloom at the turn of winter and spring.
Hongmei Park is conveniently situated about 1 kilometer away from Changzhou Railway Station and Changzhou Bus Terminal, to the north of Tianning Temple, originally the site of Tianning Temple’s gardens, which were later expanded into the present-day park. The park has multiple entrances; to view historical buildings, enter from the south, and for amusement facilities, use the north entrance. The Hongmei Pavilion and Wenbi Tower are significant ancient structures within the park. Head straight north from the South 2 entrance to reach the Hongmei Pavilion, which dates back to the Tang Dynasty’s Zhaosong period and was rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty’s Guangxu period. The two-story pavilion houses several stone carvings.
In front of the Hongmei Pavilion stands a 2.5-meter-tall Bingmei Stone, featuring patterns resembling plum blossoms. The South 1 entrance leads to the Wenbi Tower, which was built during the Southern Dynasties and stands seven stories high, with a copper gourd on top. Climbing the tower offers a panoramic view of Changzhou city. Adjacent to the amusement park, the Swan Lake is home to swans, and the Flamingo Island features flamingos. In summary, the northern part of the park is essentially a paradise for children. Within Hongmei Park, one can also see the Tianning Pagoda of Tianning Temple. Walking along the park’s waterways, one is sure to find a satisfying spot to capture the reflection of the Tianning Pagoda. The park is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
