Located at the foot of the majestic Gele Mountain in Shapingba District, Chongqing, Hongyan Soul Square is situated in the Martyrs’ Cemetery. It is a renowned red education base in Chongqing, and the novel ‘Hongyan’ draws its material and character prototypes from the martyrs who perished in Jiazigou and Bai Mansion of Gele Mountain. Named after the spirit of the martyrs, the Hongyan Soul Square is divided into two parts: the Memorial Zone and the Commemoration Zone, covering an area of 22,000 square meters. A pedestrian bridge corridor, 21 meters wide and 18 meters long, spans across, connecting the two parts and forming a cohesive whole. The square boasts a grand presence and a solemn style. It is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
