Houshan is a quarry relic, known for its stone landscapes. The essence of the stone landscapes is the ‘Checkerboard Stone’, which is more than 20 meters high and has three horizontal stones on it. It is named after the legend that two immortals once played chess here. In addition, Houshan is also the shooting location for film and television works such as the sequel to Journey to the West, King Goujian of Yue, and Myth. In addition to the Checkerboard Stone, there are more than twenty main scenic spots such as cloud stone, elephant trunk sucking water, and Yidongtian. You can look around while walking. The altitude of Houshan is not high. The entire scenic area can be visited in about two hours. It is said that here is one of the important bases where King Goujian of Yue realized his great cause of restoring the country. It is also the ancient Yue celadon kiln site in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. There are also the ancestors of Lu You, a patriotic poet in the Song Dynasty, who built houses and temples for three generations and lived here. The long history has left many footprints of famous people in past dynasties, all of which are displayed on the cliff carvings.
