The city has a leisurely pace, with sunlight bathing the ancient streets as if time slows down here. By the Qionghai Lake, the clear waves ripple, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, a beauty that intoxicates the heart. The lush greenery in the mountains makes one feel the gift of nature.
Xichang, known as the ‘Little Spring City’, is a popular weekend getaway for many from Sichuan and Chongqing. Having been here several times, I can responsibly tell you not to miss Qionghai Yuese Town.
I have visited the hot spring waterfalls of Luojia Mountain three times, and finally, in spring, they are here. The hot spring waterfalls in spring are shrouded in mist, as poetic as a painting. Water cascades down, splashing into droplets, complementing the mountain’s flowers, creating a vibrant springtime scene.
My itinerary:
Day One: Depart from Chengdu, take the high-speed train for 3.5 hours directly to Xichang Railway Station, take a taxi to the city center to check in, have lunch nearby – Qionghai Yuese Scenic Town – barbecue at Xingyue Lake Park.
Hotel recommendation: You can stay at the Mercure Hotel near Wanda Plaza, which is reasonably priced and in a bustling area with plenty of food options, especially for going to.
Day Two: Wake up early and head to Luojia Mountain Hot Spring Waterfall (about 1.5 hours by car) – lunch – return.

Luojia Mountain Jiushi’erli Hot Spring Waterfall is really famous and great. I’ve been here three times (the first time in winter with heavy snow, the second time in summer, and now in spring). Just hearing the name makes one eager to visit.
When you come to Liangshan, you must come here once. It is suitable for all seasons.
This super practical guide allows you to soak in the hot springs and enjoy the journey. Be sure to save it!
After entering the hot spring area, you will find the environment here very beautiful. Many small waterfalls fall from a height, forming a magnificent waterfall group. It is the largest in Sichuan, with a drop of over 100 meters. There are various forms of small waterfalls, like large and small beads falling into a jade plate, like the Milky Way falling for nine days, with water mist floating in the air, and like ancient and modern white ribbons flying.
While enjoying the beautiful scenery, you can also enjoy the comfort of soaking in the hot spring. There are various pools to choose from, such as large swimming pools, natural caves, open-air round pools, etc., each with its own characteristics. Especially that natural cave, with more live water, is very comfortable to soak in.
Of course, if you like challenges, you can walk up the mountain. There are indoor pools and more exciting round pools waiting for you.

Address: Qiaowo Town, Puge County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous PrefectureTransportation: Navigate to Luojia Mountain Jiushi’erli Hot Spring Parking Lot. It’s next to the ticket office. Parking is convenient and there aren’t many people. After purchasing a ticket, take the shuttle bus (no extra money needed) directly to the hot spring area. It’s very convenient.
Business Hours: It has been open until midnight, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the hot spring. Special reminder: 2 – 5 PM is when there are more travel groups and there are relatively more people. After 5 PM, the travel groups basically have to leave. Then there will be fewer people and the hot spring experience will be better.
Tickets: Ticket + sightseeing bus + hot spring package ticket. The price is the cheapest from 7 – 8 AM, 70 yuan. After 10 AM it’s 140 yuan.
Surrounding attractions: Luojia Mountain and Jiushi’erli Hot Spring are 20 minutes apart by car and can be arranged to be visited on the same day.
Other precautions:
1) The changing room has basic facilities with hot water for showering. Remember to bring a swimsuit and a waterproof bag (for the phone) to enjoy the hot spring time easily.
2) There are necessary equipment at the hot spring, such as bathrobes and slippers. You can also bring your own.
3) There are monkeys in the mountain. Do not show food and drinks in front of them as they will be robbed.
Xichang is the key to Shu and Dian and also the Little Spring City. The charm of Xichang is diverse and long-standing. It can stand the test of history and the tempering of the times.Mountains and waters, both dynamic and static, this is Xichang.
