Hua Xi Lou, also known as Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Hall and Daguan Di Temple, is a historic gathering place for merchants from Shanxi and Shaanxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is steeped in history, with a temple dedicated to Guan Yu, a native of Shanxi. The intricate and beautiful Hua Xi Lou is adorned with vibrant murals from the Qianlong period and exquisite carvings, making it a nationally protected heritage site.
Hua Xi Lou boasts the ‘three wonders’: the two flagpoles in front of the main gate, the wood carvings of Hua Xi Lou, and the mountain gate. The brick carvings are a marvel of Huizhou micro-carving art. Located in the north of Bozhou city, on the south bank of the Guo River, Hua Xi Lou was originally built during the Kangxi period for theatrical performances. The main building in the courtyard is the grand hall, with the performance pavilion complementing it, and the side buildings serving as places for watching performances and banquets, forming a quadrangular courtyard surrounded by high walls that make the acoustics excellent.
Opening Hours: 05/01-10/31 from 08:30 to 18:00; 11/01-04/30 from 09:00 to 17:30.
