The Hua Tuo Memorial Hall, also known as Hua Zu An or Hua Tuo Temple, is a temple dedicated to the worship of the divine physician Hua Tuo. Since its opening, people from all over the world have been visiting this site to pay homage to the sage, making Hua Zu An a center for the study of Hua Tuo’s medical techniques and a shining attraction in the historic and cultural city of Bozhou.
The temple complex includes the mountain gate, side rooms, main hall, eastern and western pavilions, meditation rooms, Yuanhua Hall, Cunzhen Hall, Yishou Hall, Classroom Pavilion, Ziyi Pavilion, Wuqin Stage, medicinal garden, Shizhi Pond, and the stele corridor. Inside the hall, on the golden pillars, there are couplets written by Zhu Gui: ‘The five plays turn the spirit pivot, the way is based on the emperor’s immortal position and business, and the four wheels eliminate the disaster, the merit is part of the Buddha’s Bodhi.’ ‘Good deeds, good words, and good actions are all good medicine, and famous mountains, famous waters, and famous places are even more famous because of famous people.’ These couplets praise Hua Tuo’s good medical practices and actions.
