Dingjia Garden, originally a Qing Dynasty garden architecture, is the former residence of Mr. Ding Wenjiang, one of the founders of China’s geological cause. The garden features intricately carved beams and painted rafters, eaves with upturned corners, winding corridors, and a variety of well-arranged halls such as the Bamboo Hall, Osmanthus Hall, Xiaoyu Boat, and Butterfly Hall.
During the Huangqiao Battle, the leaders of the New Fourth Army worked and stayed here, establishing the first anti-Japanese democratic government in Jiangsu – the Temporary Administrative Committee of Tongrujingtai. The memorial hall oversees three revolutionary sites: the former site of the New Fourth Army’s Northern Jiangsu Command – Huangqiao Middle School, the former site of the Tongrujingtai Administrative Committee – Dingjia Garden, and the former site of the Third Vertical Command – Yanfuxing Building.
The Huangqiao Memorial Hall is divided into four parts: ‘Preface Hall’, ‘Historical Background of the Huangqiao Battle’, ‘Huangqiao Battle Opening a New Situation in the Central China War’, and ‘Carrying Forward Revolutionary Traditions’. It fully utilizes multimedia technologies such as sound, light, and electricity to recreate this history.
Opening hours: All year round, Tuesday to Sunday from 08:30 to 16:30; Mondays are fully open.
