Huishang Grand Courtyard, also known as ‘West Garden’, is a place where 26 Huizhou-style buildings dating from the late Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty that were on the verge of collapse and scattered throughout the county were demolished and renovated. According to the principle of ‘restoration’, they were moved into the West Garden as a whole. There are a large number of ancient Huizhou ‘three carvings’ (stone carving, wood carving, and brick carving) in the grand courtyard, and many of them were collected and purchased from the people.

The entire ancient building complex of Huishang Grand Courtyard integrates archways, stages, pavilions, gardens, waterside pavilions and so on. It is a combined residential group with residences, houses, patios, pillars and many others. Huishang Grand Courtyard is magnificent. The horse-head walls rise layer by layer, the eaves are upturned, and the pavilions, bridges, archways and residences are integrated.

High-quality ‘three carvings’ can be found everywhere.
