Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder

The Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder is on the cliff at the northwest foot of Lotus Peak. It is a steep and dangerous path of more than one hundred steps carved on the stone wall. Viewed from the Aoyu Cave on the opposite side, the path is close to the abyss. It is like a long ladder leaning against the cliff. There are often clouds and mist lingering. It is very dangerous. This is the ‘Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder’. At the exit of the Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder, not far from the ‘lotus stalk’, there are two huge rocks. One is in the shape of a turtle and the other is in the shape of a snake. The two stones are parallel. The turtle and snake stones are just at the entrance of the ladder, guarding like sentinels. Hence the name ‘Turtle and Snake Guarding the Cloud Ladder’. Open all year round and open all day.
