Embarking on a Journey to Guigang in Guangxi
Last week, I embarked on a journey to Guigang in Guangxi, unlocking a new city within China. My adventure began with a flight from Shanghai to Nanning, followed by a car ride to Guigang. Upon arrival, I checked into the Victoria Hotel, which boasts a simple European design. I enjoyed Guigang’s specialty dishes at the hotel’s restaurant for dinner.
Day 1: Arrival in Guigang – Check-in at Victoria Hotel
Day 2: Exploring Guigang’s Riches
Guigang City Museum
On the second day, I delved into the rich historical and cultural tapestry of the city at the Guigang City Museum. The museum’s collection primarily consists of artifacts unearthed from various parts of the city, with a focus on Han Dynasty tomb relics, featuring pottery and bronze ware. The museum houses 1910 sets of artifacts, totaling 4672 physical items.
Earth Guest Pingtian Mountain Forest Campsite
Next, I ventured to the Earth Guest Pingtian Mountain Forest Campsite, located in the Pingtian Mountain National Forest Park. Nestled in a serene and tranquil forest with clear streams, the campsite offers a variety of outdoor activities and accommodations, including mountain sports, tents, guest rooms, bars, and coffee shops, as well as trendy sports like off-road ATVs, rock climbing, and frisbee.
Mountain Side Tourism Area
I strolled through the Cultural and Creative Park in the Mountain Side Tourism Area, enjoying the blend of culture and nature.
Da Teng Gorge Scenic Area
Cruising the Da Teng Gorge scenic area was a highlight of my trip, where I found myself immersed in the beauty of the landscape.
Bei Di Mountain
Lastly, I visited the misty Bei Di Mountain, as if I was in a landscape poem and painting.
Pingnan Xiongjing Ecological Hotel
After a day filled with exploration, I retired to the Pingnan Xiongjing Ecological Hotel for a well-deserved rest.
My journey through Guigang was a memorable one, offering a glimpse into the city’s history, culture, and natural wonders.Mountain Side Tourism Area
After lunch at a local restaurant, I took a leisurely walk to the Cultural and Creative Park. The red brick houses exude the charm of Guigang, with themes such as tea art, photography, sculpture, music, and fine arts, making the ancient architecture even more distinctive.
Da Teng Gorge Scenic Area
The largest and longest canyon in Guangxi, surrounded by towering mountains and overlapping peaks stretching for hundreds of miles. Known for its ‘high mountains, deep valleys, numerous beaches, and treacherous waters,’ it is often referred to as the ‘Little Three Gorges of Guangxi.’
Pingnan Xiongjing Ecological Hotel
Dubbed the ‘Tiger Hotel’ of Guangxi, the rooms are very comfortable. During breakfast, you can watch tigers from the glass windows, offering the unique experience of dining with tigers.
Day 3: Bei Di Mountain Tourism Area – Departure
Bei Di Mountain Tourism Area
A national AAAA-level scenic spot, comparable to Zhangjiajie. Although it was drizzling and misty with low visibility on the day we visited, we were able to see another side of its beauty, as if in a fairyland, resembling an ink painting landscape.
The main attractions include the Bei Di Mountain Range, Rhododendron Sea, Bei Di Scenic View, Stone Bridge Murals, Langchong Stone Forest, Bei Di Buddha Light, Ten-mile Gallery, Bei Di Blessing Garden, and Siling Waterfall. Standing high, you can overlook the highest peak in Guigang City—the 1581-meter ‘Yapo Lian Sun,’ towering majestically before you.
