Chongxi Wanshou Palace, commonly known as the Red Temple, is located on the south side of Dinggong Mountain, northwest of Damao Peak. Originally built as the ‘Qu Lin Guan’ during the Southern Dynasties, it later became Tao Hongjing’s ‘Hua Yang Xia Guan’. During the Tang Dynasty’s Zhenguan period, Emperor Taizong of Tang constructed the ‘Tai Ping Guan’ for Wang Fali (Wang Yuanzhi). It was renamed ‘Chongxi Ci’ during the Ning Dynasty and was bestowed the name ‘Chongxi Wanshou Palace’ in the sixth year of the Yuan Dynasty’s Yanyou era.
The palace originally had a screen wall with the stone-carved characters ‘The Eighth Cavern Heaven, The First Blessed Land’, next to which was the reading platform of Prince Zhaoming. Inside the palace, there were originally Lingguan Hall, Zhangtai, Yuhuang Hall, Sanqing Hall, and Taiyuan Hall, where the Three Mao Zhenjun were worshipped. The Taoist courtyards within the palace included Guifu, Weiyi, Sisheng, Baozhen, Sanmao, Tianshi, Nanji, Xuantan, Donghua, Sanqing, Qizhen, and Sanguan, totaling 12 courtyards. The palace is open all year round from 07:30 to 17:00.Imperially Bestowed Chongxi Wanshou Palace
