The Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum is located within the Jiading Villa in the Zhouqiao Historical and Cultural Protection Area of Jiading District, Shanghai. It displays a collection of ancient and modern Jiading bamboo carvings, as well as bamboo carving art pieces from various collections and collectors. During the mid-to-late Ming Dynasty, Zhu He and his descendants initiated the Jiading school of bamboo carving art, characterized primarily by deep relief and through-carving techniques. This art form is one of the cultural treasures of the Jiading region, rich in cultural connotations and regional characteristics. In 2006, Jiading bamboo carving was announced as part of the first batch of intangible cultural heritage protection lists. The Jiading Bamboo Carving Museum will serve to collect, exhibit, and research, enhancing the protection and utilization of the intangible cultural heritage of Jiading bamboo carving, and better showcasing its cultural connotations and artistic charm to audiences both domestically and internationally. The museum is open all year round from 08:00 to 16:30.
