Jing Mountain, located in Jingshan Town within the Yuhang District, is the northeastern peak of the Tianmu Mountain Range, named for the two paths that spiral up to Tianmu Mountain.

Jing Mountain is characterized by its towering ancient trees, lush bamboo, gurgling springs, and encircling mists, creating an elegant and majestic atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for tourism and summer retreats.

The mountain is known for two main attractions: the ancient Tang Dynasty temple, Jing Mountain Xingsheng Wanshou Zen Temple, which has brought fame to Jing Mountain. The temple was first established during the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty, serving as the ancestral temple of the Japanese Rinzai sect of Buddhism.

The second attraction is the ‘Jing Mountain Tea Banquet,’ renowned far and wide, and is said to be the origin of Japanese tea ceremony. The ancient temple on the mountain was built in 742 AD (the first year of the Tianbao era). It is said that the monk Fachin came here to preach and was bestowed the title ‘National First Zen Master.’ At its peak, the temple had numerous pavilions and halls, with a congregation of 3,000 monks.

Famous tea, fine springs, and boiled bamboo shoots are known as the three ‘treasures’ of Jing Mountain. Jing Mountain cloud tea is a nationally renowned tea, celebrated both domestically and internationally.

Furthermore, Jing Mountain has a long history of friendship with Japan, being the ancestral temple of the Japanese Rinzai sect, and the Japanese ‘tea ceremony’ also originates from the ‘tea banquet’ of Jing Mountain. The northeast Shuangxi of Jing Mountain also produces high-quality tea, and it is said that the tea deity of the Tang Dynasty, Lu Yu, once visited here to understand the tea culture and wrote the ‘Tea Classic,’ leaving behind the Lu Yu Spring.

The mountain is open to visitors all year round from 07:30 to 17:00.
