Jinlong Lake Quarry Park, also known as the Pearl Hill Quarry Site Park, is located on Pearl Hill in the eastern part of Xuzhou City. Pearl Hill is the first hill in the CBD High-Speed Rail International Business District of Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, with an elevation of 140 meters. Over the years, due to mining and other reasons, Pearl Hill has been littered with piles of rocks and numerous quarry sites, leading to the destruction of vegetation and ecology.
During the initial development of the High-Speed Rail International Business District, Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone began ecological restoration and greening of the quarry sites formed by stone mining on Pearl Hill, with the plan to build the Pearl Hill Quarry Site Park. The construction of the park adheres to the principles of ‘restoring ecology, greening and preserving scenery, refining culture, and boosting the economy’. While maintaining the original vegetation and greening, it also preserves the stone walls and other structures built during the past mining activities, thus creating new cultural landscapes. The first phase of the Pearl Hill Quarry Site Park covers an area of 150 acres, with over 800 meters of first and second-level garden paths, 550 meters of wooden plank roads up the mountain, more than 20,000 trees and shrubs, and over 40,000 square meters of lawns and ground cover. The already constructed attractions such as the Sun Pond, Moon Pond, Pearl Hill Waterfall, mountain ladders, ‘Heavenly Pool’ twin lakes, and the ‘Peaks and Turns’ walking path have become highlights of the heritage park, attracting a continuous stream of visitors. The completion of the park also provides a reference model for the ecological restoration of quarry sites. It is open all year round and accessible 24/7, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status.Jinlong Lake Quarry Park
