Jinquan Huayu

Jinquan Huayu is one of the twenty-four scenic spots on the lake in the Qing Dynasty. Originally, it was the villa of Wu Shanyu, a doctor in the Ministry of Punishment during the Qianlong period. Later, it belonged to Zhang Zhengzhi, the prefect. The garden is divided into east and west banks, separated by water in the middle. There are two springs floating in the water with sparkling ripples. Therefore, it is also known as ‘Huayu Shuangquan’.

There is a water memorial archway in the west of the garden. It connects with the island in the north and south. It is a rare water memorial archway in China. It is engraved with the four characters ‘Jinquan Huayu’. It is on the same axis as the main hall, Qingyuan Hall. It is an important entrance for the main waterway of the Slender West Lake’s water tour route to enter this area and also an important landmark building in the Jinquan Huayu area.
