Jinxi Ancient Town is located by Dianshan Lake in the southern suburbs of Kunshan. It is a Jiangnan water town with a history of thousands of years. The ancient town is not large. The ancient Lian Bridge like a Chinese landscape painting and the mysterious Chenfei Aquatic Tomb attract tourists to explore. Various folk museums are also worth visiting. There are various snack bars on the old street. Folk museums include the Ancient Brick and Tile Museum displaying antiques, the Zisha Museum, and the Pottery Museum. The Cultural Revolution Collection Exhibition Hall allows tourists to reminisce about history. Snacks on the old street include Wadisui (a kind of pastry), Changlong mooncakes, Haitang cakes and other specialties of Jinxi. There are also Gorgon fruit cakes, tied pork, tied trotters and other Jiangnan delicacies. Walking along the water alley to the end of the old street, there is an open view. In front of a pond full of sculling boats stands the Lianchi Zen Temple and Wenchang Pavilion, which were built in the Southern Song Dynasty. The incense in the temple is very prosperous. On the lake near the temple, every summer, the green lotuses are luxuriant, contrasting with the ancient Lian Bridge. The scenery is very beautiful and it is a famous photography spot. There is also the Chenfei Aquatic Tomb lying quietly on the lake. It is the tomb of the favorite concubine of Emperor Xiaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty. It is said that no matter how the water level changes, the aquatic tomb is always exposed on the lake and it is a famous scenic spot. Although Jinxi has the common water alleys, stone bridges and long corridor ancient houses of Jiangnan ancient towns, and it is not as famous as Zhouzhuang and Tongli nearby, it is quieter here, and the life atmosphere is stronger and more simple. Walking by the water alley, one can often see local uncles and grandpas sitting in the corridor, drinking tea and chatting, presenting a leisurely market style.
