Jiulong Lake Tourist Area is a tourist resort area on the north bank of Zhenhai Jiulong Lake (formerly Shizilu Reservoir). Here, you can take a boat to Monkey Island to see monkeys, climb to Jiulongyuan to see waterfalls. You can also have barbecue and farmhouse dishes in Hengxi Village and enjoy the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains. It is a place suitable for weekend tourism and leisure. The scenic area itself is a large open area.
If you do not visit the paid Jiulongyuan and Monkey Island, you do not need to buy tickets. The so-called “scenic area package ticket” includes Monkey Island (including cruise ship), Jiulongyuan, and the sightseeing bus fare from Monkey Island to near Jiulongyuan. The main entrance is near the cruise ship dock leading to Monkey Island in the east. Jiulongyuan is about 6 kilometers to the west. Due to the long distance between the two, walking is relatively time-consuming and laborious. On weekdays, you can drive into the scenic area to Jiulongyuan and buy tickets for this scenic spot alone. However, when there are many tourists, private cars may be restricted. At this time, it is more recommended to directly buy the scenic area package ticket at the tourist center and take the scenic area sightseeing bus to tour. After entering the scenic area, first take a cruise ship at the cruise ship dock to visit Monkey Island in the lake. Monkey Island is not large in area and it is very quick to walk around along the trail. There are not many wild monkeys on the island, and the others are kept in cages. However, taking a cruise ship is a good experience. The scenery on Jiulong Lake is great. Near the dock on the shore, there are amusement parks and grass skiing fields. You can pay for the entertainment items inside. After playing, take the sightseeing bus here to Xiangshanjiao Temple and Jiulongyuan in the west. Xiangshanjiao Temple is on the hillside, backed by Dapeng Mountain and facing Jiulong Lake. The temple itself has a history of thousands of years. However, the buildings seen today are rebuilt in recent years and are relatively magnificent. There are not many tourists in the temple. Incense can be burned and blessings can be prayed for in front of Yuantong Hall. Continue to go west to Jiulongyuan scenic area. Jiulongyuan is mainly for seeing waterfalls and streams. The air in the mountains is very good and the road is not difficult to walk. There are many waterfalls and small streams along the way. Climb the mountain along the trail and breathe in the fresh air until returning from Shangxia Yaochi. Here is not far from Hengxi Village. There are many barbecue and farmhouse restaurants in the village where you can have meals. It is an area where accommodation and food are concentrated in the surrounding area, and the price is fairly reasonable. Almost all local farmhouse restaurants do not provide accommodation. Accommodation is mainly in hotels. If you want to be close to the scenic spot, you can choose Jiulong Mountain Villa. Although Kaiyuan Resort in Jiulong Lake is a little farther and more expensive, its service facilities are better.Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 16:30.
