Jixi Ziyuan scenic area is located in Shangmashi Village, east of Jixi County, and is a necessary path to Longchuan Scenic Area, covering an area of over 10,000 square meters. The garden borrows from the mountains for its scenery and captures the essence of water to nurture its spirit, combining the tranquility of the mountains with the dynamism of water. It encapsulates the essence of the ancient Huizhou residential architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and with its unique clan consciousness, regional style, and artistic form, it creates a rich historical atmosphere. Upon entering JiXi Ziyuan, one is greeted by a scene where ‘residential buildings are scattered like stars in a chessboard, with distant views of white walls and black tiles, shaded by pine and maple trees, and houses lined up like a city wall’. Immersed in this environment, one’s visual senses are captivated by the beautiful scenery; the soul is shaken by the cascading horse-head walls; and the quiet narrow alleys are full of profound meaning. These ancient residences, scattered like pearls, blend landscape and morality into one, becoming a beautiful landscape for Huizhou people to display their inner world and a miniature of the 600-year-old Huizhou settlement culture! Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
