Kaiyuan Temple

Kaiyuan Temple, established in 1930, was funded by Mr. Rong Desheng and built in consultation with Monk Liangru, making it a very famous temple in Wuxi, known as Wuxi’s ‘Little Lingyin’.

Kaiyuan Temple is home to three treasures: a Thai Maitreya Buddha bronze statue, a Japanese Buddhist bell, and a portrait of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas from the United States.

In 1989, a jade Buddha statue, 3 meters tall and weighing 6 tons, was introduced to the temple, leading to the construction of the Jade Buddha Pavilion specifically for it.

The temple has long had the custom of listening to the bell, and every New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, many domestic and international tourist groups come to Mei Garden’s Kaiyuan Temple to participate in bell-listening and New Year’s welcoming activities.

Kaiyuan Temple is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00, with specific business hours subject to the temple’s daily opening status.
