Cobandi Square, often called “Sidako”, is a leisure square in the Inner Harbor of Macau. From the Kangxi to Tongzhi years of the Qing Dynasty, it was used as a port for imported opium. It was also the first dedicated opium wharf and cigarette tax area in the history of Macau and even China. It was even the starting point of the Opium War. At the end of the 19th century, the pier was filled in and turned into a large open space. After opium was banned in Macau, there were teahouses and busking performances on the ground in front of Cobondy, which was quite lively after dark. It was also used as a vegetable market, but today it is a resting place for residents.
In the early years, Macau graffiti artists called on many international artists to hold the “Xiangduo International Street Art Festival” in the Sita Kou area. They painted many unique street graffiti and introduced new-school art to the old city, attracting many tourists to come and enjoy it.
