St. Joseph’s Seminary was founded by the Jesuits in 1728. During its more than 200 years of operation, the Seminary has trained many church talents from China and Southeast Asia. It is called the “Shaolin Temple of Macau Catholicism” by the older generation of Macau residents. “. The St. Joseph’s Seminary Church adjacent to the monastery was completed in 1758. Locals call it “Samba Tsai” and it has Baroque architectural style characteristics.
