Lankeshan Mountain is located 13 kilometers southeast of Quzhou. The mountain is only over a hundred meters high, and the scenic area is not large. However, it is a landscape that must be mentioned locally. As the name suggests, Lankeshan Mountain is closely related to Go. Although there are no less than ten places across the country with the name ‘Lankeshan’, the ‘fairyland of Go’ of Lankeshan Mountain in Quzhou is a highly recognized place. Scenic spots with Go elements can be seen everywhere in the mountain, such as many billboards in the shape of Go manuals and stone tablets engraved with words about Go. There are not only many tourists here, but also local people often come to climb the mountain for exercise. There are two roads, east and south, in the scenic area where tickets can be purchased to climb the mountain. There is a ticket checkpoint near Tiansheng Stone Beam. Climbing up from the east entrance and then descending from the south gate can reduce some of the uphill climbing. Go straight to Tiansheng Stone Beam when climbing up. This is also the core part of the scenic area. Under the huge vault, there is a huge Go board. Many tourists sit on black and white chess pieces as big as washbasins and pose for pictures in the shape of playing chess, which is very funny. In the hot summer, when the sunlight is strong outside, there is a cool breeze under the stone beam, which is also a good place to enjoy the cool. There is a horizontal gap above the stone beam engraved with ‘Yixiantian’. When the weather is fine, you can climb up and look into the distance. What you can see are continuous unknown small mountains, showing the beauty of the south. Descending from the stone beam, not far away is Baoyan Temple. The temple has been renovated in recent years and still has some simple and unsophisticated flavor. Tourists can worship Buddha and pray for blessings here. The ancient cold spring well in front of the temple is said to be the place where Zhu Yuanzhang drank water, which is also a scenic spot. Continuing forward to Qiaoyin Rock, the sculptures of two fairy boys playing chess in the cave echo the legend that ‘one day in the mountains is a thousand years in the world’. When you walk down the mountain, Meiyan near the south exit enshrines Taishang Laojun, and the Eight Immortals stand on both sides. It is the territory of Taoism.
