The reed maze is the core of the entire Shajiabang scenic area. Shajiabang has deep water and fertile soil, and is rich in wild rice shoots, reeds, fish and crabs. In the past, villagers by the lake made a living by fishing. Its lake surface is vast, with water chestnuts and lotuses alternating in the lake, and reeds are densely covered, presenting a beautiful scenery. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the wounded and sick soldiers of the New Fourth Army cleverly maneuvered with the Japanese invaders and the puppet troops by taking advantage of the natural advantage of the dense reed marshes and won the victory of the struggle. The reed maze is divided into a water maze and a land maze. The crisscrossing river ports and dense reeds form various forms of water or land reed spaces such as vast, long and narrow, deep and winding, forming one maze after another, providing a place to pursue wild fun and experience the scene of the New Fourth Army fighting in the reed marshes. Walking and boating here, with birds singing melodiously, cool breeze blowing gently, the fragrance of reeds filling the nose, and full of wild fun. The farmyard is a highlight of the reed activity area. Waterwheels, ox carts, windmills, farm boats with high masts and boat workshops all show the joys of farm life. The first-generation ‘Chunlai Teahouse’ reproduces the original form of the small teahouses that were once all over the villages of Shajiabang. Treading waterwheels and playing in the bamboo forest, enjoying the joys of farm life, complementing the reed maze. The good natural ecology is an ideal choice for pursuing ‘green tourism’ that returns to nature. Open all year round from 08:00 to 16:30.
