Set against the backdrop of Langya culture, this drama unfolds a series of new and old grudges, joys and sorrows, and stories of separation and reunion in the context of the historically fictional State of Daliang. The six enigmatic judges of the Langya Pavilion are entangled in the selection of the new top of the Langya Yunfeng List.
A distinctive feature of this play is the adoption of the rapidly rising ‘immersive’ performance form among young people, breaking the fourth wall between the audience and actors. The entire exhibition space of the Wang Xizhi Film and Television Museum has been transformed into a performance space, where every corner is playable and every step offers a show. The audience is no longer just a spectator of the drama but becomes a character within it, walking through the ancient streets of Wuyi and Langya, guiding the development and direction of the plot. Actors are no longer just performers of fixed routines but become ‘companion’ performers face-to-face with the audience, stimulating the audience’s immersion into the characters’ past and present through improvisation and game interaction.

The play starts with concepts such as ‘technology, art, and marriage’ to present sincere feelings of home, love, loyalty, and kinship, and uses various performance forms to carry the content – storytelling, rap, song and dance shows, rock music, magic, dialects, weddings, funerals, sword dances, folk songs, martial arts, multimedia shows, and light shows. Under the performance of each scene, it seems that the six judges and the audience are involved in a series of comedies and farces, but under the laughter lies many complex emotions that are difficult to articulate.

Depending on the audience’s choices, the plot may lead to multiple endings. However, regardless of the outcome, the play ends with a ‘dream-like’ performance, reminding the audience that the alternative life they have played is a mirror, thus achieving the theme of self within the Buddhist concept of non-self.

Another feature of the play is the cross-industry integration of multiple formats, repackaging Chinese traditional culture in a national trend style, and organically integrating performance, games, and cultural creations through the emerging entertainment medium of game theater. Combined with wearable technology devices, it creates an online and offline interactive multi-entertainment immersive universe, attracting a wide range of tourists, especially young people.

With the concept of ‘time travel,’ the play creates a street scene atmosphere of the Wei and Jin dynasties, forms factions, and experiences six main story lines, competing for the position of the top of the Langyun List. A journey of Langya culture and games begins. The creative background of ‘Lanyang Yunfeng’ is set in ancient times when the Nine Heavens Fairy fell to the mortal world. The phoenix she rode followed her to the Dongyi Kingdom, turned into a mountain called ‘Phoenix Mountain,’ with parasol trees where the phoenix reincarnates and often resides.

Therefore, the nearby city is called ‘Phoenix City.’
In order to ensure eternal peace for the Dongyi Kingdom, the Nine Heavens Mysterious Girl descended to the mortal world and established the Langya Pavilion in the Heavenly Palace. The location of the ancestral temple is Phoenix Mountain. As recorded in ‘Records of the Grand Historian’: ‘The eighth is: the Lord of the Four Seasons. Sacrifice is offered at Langya.

Langya is in the east of Qi and is probably the place where the year begins.’ It means the place where the year begins. The meaning of Langya is flawless jade. The six judges of the Langya Pavilion are the masters of yin, yang, four seasons, heaven and earth. First: Six main storylines interpenetrate and are intertwined. Independent perspectives tell a complete story and promote repeat visits.

Second: Deep RPG game design is deeply related to the plot, forming a complete feedback chain. Learn various unique skills, challenge martial arts masters, and become the leader of heroes in the world.

Third: Performances and games go hand in hand. Freedom and story are equally emphasized. Comedy and drama coexist, and the rhythm is compact.

Fourth: Multi-ending design and hidden plot design encourage tourists to deeply explore character side stories and experience multiple times. In such a story background where reality and illusion are intertwined, games and performances are intertwined to present an immersive game drama and experience a real sense of time travel. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year from 09:30 to 21:30; Closed all day on Monday throughout the year. Arrive half an hour in advance according to the performance time.
