Lao Dongmen in Xuzhou is located at No. 104 Huaihai East Road. Before the liberation, it served as the headquarters of the Nationalist Army and later became the headquarters of a certain group army stationed in Xuzhou. The site features a complex of cultural symbols from different periods and styles of the last century, including the remains of city walls, bunkers, military headquarters gates, and a Republic of China auditorium. The area is characterized by red bricks and green tiles, with trees such as fish-scale pines, camphor trees, and French plane trees providing ample shade. The historical symbols of modern Xuzhou, known as Pengcheng, are hidden within, and the military sentry post is still well-preserved. Most of the buildings date back to before the liberation, with a few constructed after. As Xuzhou develops its eastern CBD, Lao Dongmen has become one of the central areas for developing the ‘moonlight economy’, and creating a fashionable district similar to ‘APM24’ in Xuzhou has become a primary task. The eastern gate, acting as an ‘open-air museum’, aims to revive the charm of the Republic of China era and the culture of the Shanghai school, while also complementing the overall style of Huaihai East Road CBD. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
