The historical block of Laomendong is an ancient place name in the southern area of Nanjing’s old city. It is located in the area south of Guntong Lane at Confucius Temple in Nanjing. Historically, the southern area of the old city was a relatively developed commercial and residential area in Nanjing. Nowadays, traditional Chinese wooden buildings and horse-head walls are reconstructed according to traditional styles to reproduce the original appearance of the southern area of the old city. Around the street sculpture archway, there are four groups of street sculptures, namely rickshaw pullers, sugar taro seedlings, old mailboxes, and schoolchildren entering the hall (private school). The sculptural figures are all ‘wearing’ Ming and Qing costumes, vividly reproducing the residential life of Laomendong during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Opening hours: Open all day all year round.

Must-see tips: The historical block of Laomendong is located in the southern part of the city and is very close to Confucius Temple. You can visit Confucius Temple and then come here for a stroll.
