Lao Men Dong Historical District

Lao Men Dong Historical District is an ancient place name in the southern part of Nanjing, located in the area south of the Bucket Lane near the Confucius Temple in Nanjing. Historically, the southern part of the city was a more developed area for commerce and residence in Nanjing. Today, traditional Chinese wooden buildings and horse-head walls are reconstructed in the traditional style to restore the original appearance of the old south city.

There are four groups of street sculptures around the archway, which are rickshaw pullers, sugar taro, old mailbox, and schoolchildren entering the academy (attending private schools). The characters of the sculptures are all dressed in costumes of the Ming and Qing dynasties, vividly recreating the residential life of Lao Men Dong during the Ming and Qing periods.

The opening time is all year round, open all day. Must-see tips: Lao Men Dong Historical District is located in the south of the city, close to the Confucius Temple, and visitors can come here after touring the Confucius Temple.
