Lao Thailand Travel: A Journey to the Enchanting Wonders of Laos and Thailand for New Year 2020

When offering alms, do not directly give money to monks; instead, offer food, flowers, or small gifts. If you wish to give money, find a designated place for it or purchase some souvenirs from the temple. When taking photos

Visiting Pha Phu Kon Temple

This was used in place of incense, and I followed the local crowd, circumambulating the reclining Buddha three times while silently praying. After making a wish in front of the Buddha, I folded the cloth and placed it in front of the statue, taking the picture with me. I am not sure if my actions were entirely in accordance with the rules, but I imitated what I saw.

Many locals visit Pha Phu Kon Temple and pray with great devotion, so I did not take any photos in the hall. Directly opposite the entrance was a jade reclining Buddha, whose serene and peaceful expression immediately calmed my spirit. Upon entering the main hall, one feels an immediate sense of tranquility and relief.

Behind the reclining Buddha is a series of photographs, documenting all significant events since the temple’s completion, including images of high-ranking monks, politicians, and well-known social figures attending various conferences.

Pha Phu Kon Temple is situated atop a mountain, and its construction was meticulously designed to follow the natural contours of the terrain, resulting in an asymmetrical layout that exemplifies the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Please note that our drone photography required approval from the local authorities, and any visitors wishing to do the same must obtain permission to avoid unnecessary disputes. Entry to Pha Phu Kon Temple is free of charge.

Lunch by the Mekong River

Lunch was enjoyed by the Mekong River at a restaurant offering a delightful array of dishes that were both flavorful and refreshing, catering well to the tastes of our team of photographers from Shanghai. The meal was well-arranged by our guide, and it is worth mentioning that just as one should not miss out on Lao beer in Vientiane, one should also not miss out on LEO beer in Thailand.
