Beside Patuxay, a stone slab engraved with the national flags and words of both China and Laos stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two countries. From the top of Patuxay, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Vientiane, capturing the beauty of the surrounding buildings, including the Laotian Prime Minister’s Office.
French Street – A Taste of Bohemian Charm in Vientiane
Though our official itinerary had ended, we were eager to explore more of Vientiane. Our guide took us to French Street, a historical part of the city that reflects Laos’s 47 years under French colonial rule. This street is a hub for Western tourists and expatriates, with a vibrant collection of restaurants and bars that create a romantic atmosphere. It’s a delightful place to spend an evening, sipping drinks and enjoying the local music, as we did, with a singer occasionally taking sips from a bottle of local beer.
Vientiane Moon Island Hotel – A Prestigious Stay
After a day full of discoveries, we returned to the Vientiane Moon Island Hotel, an upscale establishment with a history of hosting dignitaries from various countries. The hotel’s grandeur was immediately apparent upon arrival, and its historical charm is matched by a sense of dignity in every detail. The annex building is located beside the main building, and the hotel’s facade includes a grand square, making it an ideal venue for large-scale receptions.
The hotel’s location is exceptional, with the Mekong River at its back, and our room offered stunning river views. We were excited about our stay at the Moon Island Hotel from the start of our trip, and it did not disappoint. With its historical significance and beautiful views, we look forward to sharing more of our experiences here tomorrow.
Mr. Pichit’s Wood Collection
It belongs to Mr. Pichit, the richest man in Vientiane. But it can also be said that now he has nothing but wood because he has used all his property to collect wood. He loves wood as his life and is also a person who saves wood.
