Renowned international forensic expert Li Changyu hails from Rugao. The museum houses a vast collection of images, audiovisual materials, and physical artifacts donated by him, with particular value placed on the forensic tools he used in solving cases and the various medals he has received. It feels as though one is transported to the scenes of international investigations. Dr. Li Changyu was born in Rugao’s Changxiang in 1938 and studied in the United States in 1965. In 1998, he became the Commissioner of the Connecticut State Police, the first Chinese-American to hold such a position at the state level. He played a significant role in high-profile cases such as the O.J. Simpson murder trial and forensic investigations following the ‘9·11’ attacks. Although the museum is not widely known and attracts few visitors, crime enthusiasts are still thrilled to see the tweezers, bottles, rulers, magnifying glasses, and other tools used in forensic investigations. The museum is open year-round from 09:00 to 17:00. On October 18, 2015, Rugao City held the groundbreaking ceremony for the relocation and expansion of the Li Changyu Forensic Technology Museum. The new museum, once completed, will be located within the scenic area of flowers and trees in the southern part of the city.
