Lianghuang Mountain, formerly known as ‘Tongbai Mountain’, is located in the territory of Qiantong Ancient Town in Ninghai County. It is named after Emperor Xuan of Liang in the Southern and Northern Dynasties once lived in seclusion here to avoid the chaos caused by Hou Jing. Lianghuang Mountain is 768 meters above sea level. The mountain is steep, with strange peaks and rocks, deep valleys and secluded ravines, and waterfalls and flowing springs.
It is full of greenery, with beautiful scenery and countless attractions. Many literati and poets in ancient and modern times have left poems and footprints here. Since the Song Dynasty, it has been one of the famous mountains in the south of the Yangtze River. It is the starting place of ‘Xu Xiake’s Travel Notes’; it is the birthplace of Jiangnan Buddhism and Taoism culture. Here is a dreamy Peach Blossom Spring; here is a perfect combination of splendid historical culture and unique natural landscapes. Lianghuang Temple (formerly known as Chongfu Temple) is located at the southern foot of Lianghuang Mountain. It was built during the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty (618 – 626). In 1872 (the eleventh year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty), it was changed to ‘Gongtai Academy’. The ancient Liangwang Temple has only three small houses. The current abbot, Monk Yuanzhong, is building a tall Mahavira Hall and other temple buildings. Behind the temple are scenic spots such as Liangyuantan, Sutra Worship Terrace, and Stone Cauldron.Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
