Lianhuazhuang Park

Lianhuazhuang Park is historically renowned as a famous garden. “Lotus blooming, brocade cloud hundreds of acres” is a unique feature of Wuxing. The Yuan Dynasty calligrapher Zhao Mengfu built his residence here, opened a lotus pond, and constructed structures such as the Pine Moon Studio and Water Moon Pavilion, hence the name Lianhuazhuang. Originally, Lianhuazhuang was the place where Zhao Mengfu studied in his youth.

Well-preserved during the Ming Dynasty, it was destroyed by the end of the Qing Dynasty. In 1986, the relevant departments of Huzhou City reconstructed it and incorporated the adjacent Qian Garden, making them a single entity. The total area is 112 acres, with one-third being water surface, divided into three scenic areas.

The West District, adjacent to Hengtang Road, serves as the main entrance, with the gate plaque inscribed by the calligrapher Zhao Puchu. To the left of the entrance is a stele with the full text of Zhao Mengfu’s “Wuxing Fu”, in front of which is the Qingbian Residence, followed by the Jifang Garden. To the right is the Qing Sheng Pond, with the Pine Studio and Oubo Pavilion built by the pond, connected by a corridor.

The Lotus Peak to the west of the studio is a relic from Zhao Mengfu’s era, inscribed with the seal script of “Lotus Peak”, which is his handwriting. The Dishan Building, Songxue Studio, and Oubo Pavilion on the peak are memorial buildings of Zhao Mengfu’s life, where many of his masterpieces were completed.

The park is open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00, with specific opening hours subject to the actual situation of the scenic area on the day.
