Lingyan Mountain is located on the shore of Taihu Lake. It is 15 kilometers southwest of Suzhou City, with an altitude of 220 meters. Because there are many rocks on the mountain that resemble ganoderma lucidum, it is called Lingyan Mountain. Lingyan Mountain Temple is built on the top of the mountain. The mountain gate faces south and overlooks Taihu Lake. The scenery of the lake and the mountains is magnificent.

There are three halls on the central axis: Maitreya Pavilion, Mahavira Hall, and Buddhist Chanting Hall. The east and west sides are connected by long corridors. On the east side are buildings such as Duobao Pagoda, Zhiji Hall, Bell Tower, and Xiangguang Hall. The west side is mainly a garden. Duobao Pagoda is a distinctive ancient building in the temple. It is 34 meters high, with seven levels and eight sides, in a pavilion style. Duobao Pagoda was originally built in the second year of Tianjian in the Liang Dynasty (503 AD). It was rebuilt in the seventeenth year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1147 AD). The tower we see now is restored according to the original appearance of the Song Dynasty tower in modern times.

In the Spring and Autumn Period, Lingyan Mountain Temple was the site of Guanwa Palace built by King Fuchai of Wu for Xi Shi.
