Liyang City Museum is the city’s first comprehensive urban museum, located lakeside in the picturesque Yan Lake Park. It is modeled after the Jiaoweiqin, a musical instrument created by Cai Yong of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The total construction area is approximately 18,319 square meters, with an exhibition area totaling around 11,000 square meters. The exhibition hall spans three floors, with the first two floors dedicated to the museum, divided into three thematic areas: 45 million years ago, the Chinese Dawn Ape of the Middle Eocene Epoch; the millennia-old Jin Lai and Liyang; and the charm of Lai River and the founding period. The third floor is the planning hall, mainly displaying the city’s specific planning conditions. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00, all year round; and closed all day on Mondays, with specific operational status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
