The Long Museum West Bund is located at the core of the ‘West Bund Cultural Corridor’ along the Xuhui Binjiang in Shanghai, and was designed and constructed by Chinese architect Liu Yichun. Its unique architectural style has quickly made it a popular photography spot in Shanghai, attracting countless architectural photographers. Additionally, the museum frequently hosts free niche exhibitions that are highly sought after.
The main building of the museum is characterized by its distinctive ‘umbrella arch’ structure, divided into four levels. The ground floor and first floor are dedicated to the display of contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, installation, and new media. The large-scale cantilevered arched spaces are made of fine-textured fair-faced concrete, visually echoing with the original Bei Piao Wharf Fashion Space ‘Dou Lang’, creating a sense of industry and primality.

The basement level is a permanent exhibition space for ancient Chinese art treasures, with ‘white box’ style rectangular exhibition halls highlighting the historical heritage and profoundness of traditional Chinese art. The Long Museum West Bund is not a traditional closed and introverted art museum but an open public space with public participation. The ground two floors feature a river view restaurant with a broad view, public landscape courtyards, concert halls, cafes, and art stores, while the basement level includes a children’s exhibition hall, library, art restoration room, and art bookstore.

The basement two floors have a parking lot with over three hundred parking spaces. All these facilities make art accessible to the public, closely related to their daily leisure life, which is also the original intention and wish of the founders, Liu Yiqian and Wang Wei.
