Longtouzhu is a peninsula formed by the winding extension of Dashu Mountain into Taihu Lake, resembling a giant dragon lying in the clear waves of the lake, hence the name Longtouzhu. Within the resort, the ‘Seven Miles Dam’ is the best scenic avenue in Mashan to date. There are three main spots to enjoy the view of Longtouzhu. The first is the Longmen Observation Deck at the entrance, the second is the Wanglong Pavilion, and the third is in the lake, which can only be truly appreciated by boat to feel the imposing presence of the green dragon lying in the waves. Wanglong Pavilion is an excellent place to view Longtouzhu from land, from where the dragon’s head looks like a green dragon extending into the heart of Taihu Lake.
