Lu Li Ancient Village is located in the northwest of Xishan, named after Mr. Lu Li, a famous hermit from the Han Dynasty who lived in seclusion here. It features historical sites such as Zhengjing Port, Yongning Bridge, Nanxing Bridge, and Changshou Temple.
Yuwang Temple, situated in Lu Li Ancient Village, was originally built in the third year of the Datong period of the Southern Dynasties’ Liang Dynasty (537), in memory of the great Yu’s water management in Taihu Lake and Xishan. The temple stands out with its yellow walls, clear tiles, and upturned eaves, amidst the vast Taihu Lake.
Lu Li, also known as Luwanli, is named after Mr. Lu Li, one of the ‘Four Worthies of the Shang Mountain’ from the early Han Dynasty who lived in seclusion here; while Ya Li, named for the presence of the Taihu Lake Camp’s Commanding Officer’s Office during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The Lu Li scenic area currently has open attractions including Yuwang Temple, as well as numerous historical and cultural relics, mainly Zhengjing Port, Yongning Bridge, Guxing Bridge, the ancient lake defense stronghold of Lutou Fort and Patrol Office, Censor’s Archway, the Tomb of Five Maidens, and Tianhou Palace. The opening hours are from January 1st to December 31st, 08:00 to 16:30.
