Maling Park, formerly known as Suqian Martyrs’ Cemetery, was initially built in 1954 as the Shu Bei Battle Memorial Hall. Martyrs’ graves were successively relocated to the present-day Shu Bei Battle Martyrs’ Cemetery in Xiaocai Community, Lalong Town, Suyu District. In April 1963, the Shu Bei Battle Maling Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs’ Memorial Tower was completed in Maling Park. The towering memorial tower stands in solemn tribute to the revolutionary martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for the establishment of the new China, reflecting the spirit of the People’s Heroes Monument in Tiananmen Square, Beijing.
The park once housed one of China’s nine major Taoist temples, Yu Xu Temple (Zhenwu Temple), along with classical garden structures such as Yang Gong Pavilion, Tong Fang Pavilion, Library, East and West River Watch Towers, Sanqing Hall, Jade Emperor Pavilion, and Wenchang Hall. Presently, the park features multiple commemorative facilities including the Shu Bei Battle Memorial Tower and Memorial Hall for visitors to pay their respects and contemplate history.
Opening hours are from 09:00 to 11:30 and 14:00 to 17:00 all year round.
