Mangshan Town is located in the northern part of Yongcheng, where Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang cut the snake and rebelled, earning the title of ‘The Land of Han’s Rise’. It frequently appears in the TV series ‘Chu and Han Legend’. The famous Mangdangshan Han Cultural Tourism Area is situated in Mangshan Town. Mangdangshan is the only mountain range on the vast plain of Eastern Henan and has been known as the ‘Fairy Peak’ since ancient times.
At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Chen Sheng, the leader of the peasant uprising, was buried here. Confucius left behind landscapes such as Confucius Cliff and Confucius Mountain after taking shelter from the rain and giving lectures here. The Western Han Dynasty Liang King’s tombs are scattered like stars, and the ancient temple fair of Mangdangshan, which has been passed down for thousands of years, is held here every year.
Mangshan Town is filled with historical sites: a stone monument was erected to commemorate Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang’s snake-cutting rebellion, and at night, the light shines directly on the monument to reveal the spirit and illusion of the Emperor, known as ‘A Wonder of the World’. The ‘Four Spirits Yunqi Picture’ unearthed from the Siyuan Han Tomb in the Han Liang King Tomb Group is praised by experts and scholars from China and abroad as ‘Dunhuang before Dunhuang’. The tomb of Li, the wife of Liu Wu, the Western Han Liang Xiaowang, is known as ‘The First Stone Chamber Tomb in the World’. Opening hours: Open all day, every day of the year.
