The May Thirtieth Movement Monument is located in Huangpu District, Shanghai. In 1985, the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party, the municipal government, and the city’s trade union decided to build the May Thirtieth Movement Monument in People’s Park. The main sculpture, ‘May Thirtieth Spirit,’ is inspired by the characters ‘May Thirtieth,’ resembling a roc spreading its wings and a raging flame.

In the center stands a bronze round sculpture composed of two indomitable workers, depicting the Chinese working class’s relentless and heroic revolutionary spirit. On the north and south sides of the monument, there are two steles with bronze reliefs on the back, each showcasing the historical struggle of the May Thirtieth Movement. Open all day long from January 1st to December 31st.
