Menglianggu Tourism Area is located in the heart of the Yimeng Mountain region, in the north of Quanqiao Village, Duozhuang Town, Mengyin County, southeastern part. The area is characterized by steep mountains, dangerous peaks, and dense vegetation, making it a nationally renowned base for revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and national defense education. The main peak of Menglianggu stands at an altitude of 575.2 meters, named after the Song Dynasty’s Yang’s Army general Meng Liang who is said to have stationed troops here. In May 1947, the area set an example in the history of the People’s Liberation War for mountain mobile warfare and rapid decision-making, which also changed the situation in East China. Menglianggu thus became famous both domestically and internationally, known as the ‘Heroic Menglianggu’.
The scenic area is divided into two parts: the Menglianggu Memorial Exhibition Area and the Menglianggu Battle Site Exhibition Area. The battle memorial hall is grand and spectacular, using high-tech means to re-present the 1947 Menglianggu battle situation to the world. The battle site scenic area has added more than forty attractions, including wartime weapons such as airplanes and artillery for visitors to view, as well as free military projects for visitors to participate in, such as horse riding, archery, zip-lining, sliding, machine guns, and ancient-style cannons, providing thrilling experiences. The Menglianggu Memorial Exhibition Area consists of three parts; the Menglianggu Martyrs Cemetery contains large sculptures, a tablet corridor, a battle memorial hall, and a martyrs’ cemetery. Inside the Heroes Pavilion stands a martyrs’ tower, engraved with the names of 2859 martyrs who sacrificed in the Menglianggu battle. The opening hours are all year round from 09:00 to 16:00. Preferential policies: Children under 1.4 meters (not including) are free; full-time undergraduate and below students with valid documents enjoy half-price; seniors aged 60 and above with senior citizen cards or ID cards are free; active-duty military personnel and retired military officers with valid documents are free; disabled persons with disability certificates are free; teachers with valid documents on Teacher’s Day are free.
