Originally known as ‘Fish Viewing Spot’, the Mianshui Pavilion was renamed and restored by the provincial governor Zhang Shusheng in the twelfth year of the Tongzhi era. The name is derived from a line by the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu, which reads ‘All levels of the pavilion face the water, old trees have withstood frost.’ Facing north and overlooking the water, the pavilion is surrounded by ancient trees that create a picturesque scene. To the left of the pavilion, a winding corridor extends eastward, allowing for both interior and exterior views, borrowing scenery from both sides. Across the water, it welcomes visitors with its charm. Along the riverside, there used to be exquisite lake stones said to resemble the forms of five hundred Arhats. The pavilion is open all year round from 07:30 to 17:00.
