MiaoGaoTai, also known as Miaogaofeng and Tianzhu Peak, is the principal attraction within the Xuefeng Mountain scenic area. Despite its relatively modest altitude of 396 meters, it stands imposingly with its back against the mountains, protruding in the middle, surrounded by steep cliffs on three sides, and overlooking a deep abyss, making for a very dramatic landscape.

In the narrow sense, MiaoGaoTai refers to a platform of approximately 350 square meters. Standing at the forefront of the platform, visitors can enjoy the natural scenery of Tingxia Lake. Surrounded by lush ancient trees and shaded by verdant bamboo, with a refreshing breeze always present, it is an ideal summer retreat.

Behind MiaoGaoTai is a private villa built in 1927. Above, on the second floor, hangs a white plaque with black characters reading ‘MiaoGaoTai’. The villa is a two-story building, consisting of six rooms on the ground and first floors, connected by a western-style platform, with a total construction area of 436 square meters. Upon entering the main door, there is a courtyard in the middle of the first floor, with one room on each side; the second floor has a cement corridor connected to a balcony, with a reception room in the center, a bedroom to the east, and a study to the west.

In the center of the villa’s courtyard, a stone pagoda is preserved, which is the stupa of Shiqi Zen Master, the abbot of Xuefeng Temple during the early Qing Dynasty. In the eighth year of Shunzhi’s reign (1651), Shiqi Zen Master rebuilt Xuefeng Temple, allowing the temple’s Buddhist light to shine again. After his death, in the fourth year of Yongzheng’s reign (1726), this stone pagoda was constructed in his memory to honor his achievements.

The site is open year-round from 08:30 to 16:30. For specific visiting hours, please consult the scenic area.
