Moli Pavilion, originally a schoolhouse built by Xie Huo, a county magistrate of Lingao County during the Song Dynasty, is located 4 kilometers northwest of Lincheng Town, within the current Lin Gao Normal School. Xie Huo planted numerous jasmine flowers in the courtyard, which is why it is named ‘Moli Pavilion’.

In the 18th year of the Shaoxing era (AD 1146), Hu Quan, a prime minister, was demoted to Hainan. As he passed through Lingao, Xie Huo welcomed him and hosted him in Moli Pavilion for a while. During his stay, Hu Quan composed a poem titled ‘Inscription for Moli Pavilion’, which greatly enhanced the pavilion’s fame.

According to the records in the Lingao County Annals, Dai Dingshi from Botun Village in Lingao County was inspired by Hu Quan to study diligently. He eventually passed the imperial examinations and served in the Ministry of Personnel. Over the years, Moli Pavilion has been regarded as a hub for the dissemination of Central Plains culture in Lingao.
